Muslims To Hold Eid al-Fitr On Saturday
Muslims will hold the Eid al-Fitr festival on Saturday, April 22, 2023.
Eid-al-Fitr is a festival of feasting marking the end of the Ramadan fast.
This comes after Muslims ended the fast on Thursday after sighting the crescent at Truba in Kumasi in the Ashanti Region.
In a Facebook post on Thursday, The Hillal Committee confirmed the end of the 30-day fasting and declared the beginning of the six days of supererogatory fasts which are believed to hold immense rewards.
Muslims across the world began 30 days of fasting on March 23, 2023, which is observed as part of the five pillars of Muslims in the month of Ramadan on the Islamic calendar.
The Eid festival will be held on Saturday per declaration by the National Chief Imam, Shiekh Nuhu Sharubutu.
Saturday is a public holiday and President Akufo-Addo has extended it to Monday, April 24.
