President Akufo-Addo Seeks “Audience” With King Charles

The President of Ghana, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has met King Charles III during his recent trip to the United Kingdom.

According to a tweet from the Royal Family, the President was there seeking the attention of the King.

The President left Ghana for London on Sunday barely 72 hours after he returned from a trip to Egypt and the United States on Friday, November 11.

The Jubilee House only said he was on a Private Visit to London and would return on Wednesday, November 16.

On Tuesday afternoon, the British Royal Family shared a picture of the King welcoming President Akufo-Addo to Windsor Castle with a handshake and in an accompanying caption said the latter had sought the audience of the King.

“This afternoon, The King welcomed the President of Ghana to Windsor Castle for an Audience.”

It is not yet known what President Akufo-Addo sought the audience of the King for but some Ghanaians anticipated he was there for aid.

Quite unlike the President and the Jubilee House, his meeting with the King has not been communicated on their respective social media platforms.

This appears to be the first official visit of the President to the King since his ascension to the throne.

President Akufo-Addo was among the world leaders who attended the state funeral service of Queen Elizabeth II at Westminster Abbey on 19 September.
