Sammy Gyamfi Jabs Samira After Apologising Over Make-up Allegation

The National Communications Officer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has taken a swipe at the Second Lady of Ghana, Samira Bawumia over his “false” allegation about her make-up products after apologising to her.

According to the communicator cum lawyer, the Second Lady did not serve him a copy of the letter from her legal team, but chose to spread it through her party’s “hirelings”.

The Second Lady through her lawyers wrote to the Despite Group of Companies on November 9 demanding a retraction and apology for a “false” allegation Sammy Gyamfi made about her during an interview with Neat FM- a subsidiary of the Despite Group of Companies.

He had alleged that the convoy of the Second lady includes a vehicle that carries her make-up products and her make-up artist.

In a subsequent interview with Neat FM, Samy Gyamfi retracted and apologised to her.

“Lawyer Kwame Twum- a very intelligent fellow who works with the current Second Lady- called me after my interview and told me the allegation is untrue. I believe Kwame so I decided to retract the statement the next time I came on your show,” he told the host, Adakabre Frimpong.

He added, “The convoy of the second lady doesn’t have any Land Cruiser that carries along her make-up products….There is nothing like that according to the Office of the Second Lady and it is only fair that I retract. My apologies to the Second Lady.”

But that didn’t end it all.

A day after apologising to her, Sammy took to his Facebook page to express his displeasure at the means used by Samira in addressing the issue.

According to him, the Second Lady used her party “hirelings” to get the information to him.

“It is a shame that you, through your NPP hirelings have gone to town and caused to be published, a letter seeking a retraction and apology relative to a comment I made about your convoy when you very well know that I have not been served with any such letter by your lawyers.”

To him, that “is intended to divert public attention from your failed husband cum self-professed “Economic Wizkid” who has gone into hibernation after plunging Ghana’s economy into unprecedented turmoil. But if this is the tangent you intend to proceed on, then I can assure you that you have not heard the last on this matter.”

He explained, “The statement I made was based on the fact that I have personally seen a make-up artist being driven in a Toyota Landcruiser (V8) in your convoy at Golden Tulip (now Lancaster), Kumasi.

“As you may be aware, your Personal Assistant, who was my mate at the Law School and my legal advisor when I was SRC President, reached out to me to clarify that contrary to my assertion, you had no dedicated vehicle for your make-up artist. Based on my trust and respect for him, I accepted in good faith and without malice to recant the said statement, which I did.”
