I Worked As A Prostitute; One Of 164 Suspected Galamseyers Discloses
One of 164 suspected illegal miners arrested in the Eastern region has disclosed she worked as a prostitute and not as an illegal miner.
She is one of the five females among the suspects.
The 164 were arrested by the Operation Halt II task force during a swoop in Anyinam and Mampong in the Eastern Region.
In an interview with UTV, the Nigerian said she was brought to Ghana to work as a shopkeeper, however, upon arrival, she was made to do something quite the opposite.
“I’m Nigerian. Someone brought me. She said I will be keeping a supermarket. The business she said I will be doing was not what I was introduced to.
“She cut the nails of my finger and toes and my pubic hair and threatened to kill me if I told the police or ran away. She demanded that I pay her her money. I wasn’t into galamsey, I worked as a prostitute”, she recounted.
