NABCO Trainees To Embark Another Protest After ‘No Show’ In 7 Days
The beneficiaries of the Nation Builders Corp (NABCO) have vowed to hit the streets again if the government fails to respond favourably to their grievances after a week.
This comes after the trainees hit the streets on August 18, 2022, over their unpaid allowances.
In an interview on Eyewitness news monitored by opemsuo.com, the leader of the NABCO trainees, Dennis Opoku Katakyie said their next protest will be held at the Jubilee House.
“The Chief of Staff on behalf of the vice president told us that as a listening government, they are going to respond to all our grievances possibly within the shortest possible time…In the shortest possible time if we realise they are delaying then we may also repeat what we did but this time, we will march to the Jubilee House.
“We can’t define the shortest possible time. That is the reason we have decided to pull back for the next one week and if we don’t hear any positive news from the government, we will take our next line of action”, he said.
Speaking to the media during the protest, Katakyie said they chose demonstration as a legitimate means to get their demands addressed after several calls on the government failed.
The demonstrators converged at the Obra spot, moved through the Farisco junction, through to the TUC intersection, through to the National Theatre, the Custom head office and finally settled at Independence Square.
At Independence Square, they handed over their petition to Deputy Chief of Staff at the Jubilee House, Emmanuel Adumua Bossman on behalf of the Vice president.
The trainees expected to meet the veep but Adumua Bossman noted that Dr Mahamudu Bawumia couldn’t make it because August 18, 2022, was a Cabinet day.
He further assured the protesters that their petition will receive a favourable response.
