National Cathedral Saga: Sonnie Badu Relieved Of $50k Payment Allegation
The Executive Director of the National Cathedral, Paul Opoku-Mensah has debunked reports that Sonnie Badu was paid fifty thousand United States Dollars for performing at the launch of the National Cathedral Fundraising in Washington DC.
This was contained in the second statement from the Secretariat of the National Cathedral to debunk the second set of allegations arising around the construction of the National Cathedral.
“There are reports about payment of $50,000.000 to the singer, Sonnie Badu, or his performance at the Launch of the National Cathedral Fundraising in Washington DC on February 8, 2019.
“The Secretariat of the National Cathedral has not paid any money, neither is it aware of any such payment, to Sonnie Badu”.
Similarly, the management of the singer rubbished the allegation.
It pointed out that Sonnie and his team were informed by organisers of the Fundraising that it was “a charitable event to raise funds for the cathedral” hence they would later send some money to the singer to disburse to his team, a promise that never materialised.
According to the Management of the singer, Sinnie and his musical team were not even offered a seat at the event and so had to leave shortly after their performance.
