70 Dead After Consuming Midwestern Pet Food, 80 Others Sick- FDA
The Food and Drugs Authority has issued a statement recalling all brands of pet food manufactured by Midwestern Pest Food and imported from the United States of America by Doggie Dog World Enterprise.
This comes after tests revealed the food products have high aflatoxin contamination which is harmful.
It also says the products have resulted in the death of seventy dogs and caused illness in another eighty.
Details of the food products in question have 9th July, 2020 as the expiry date with facility number 05 at the end of the Date code. OK-PFO-005 as registration and 17/10/21/05/L3 and 12/11/21/05/L3 as batch numbers
The pet food variants contaminated by the aflatoxin include; Pro Pac Original, Sportmix, Splash Pet Food, Sportstrail Pet Food, Dunn Better Dry Dog and Cat Foods, according to the statement.
FDA is therefore cautioning consumers to return such products either to the importer, place of purchase or Food and Drugs Authority offices.
