35-Year-Old Farmer Fatally Stabbed In Assin Akropong Over Samsung Galaxy

A 35-year-old farmer named Isaac Godiga, has been stabbed multiple times in the chest and stomach in Assin Akropong in the Central Region’s Assin Fosu Municipality leading to his death.

Isaac Godiga, who passed away, reportedly questioned a suspect about his missing Samsung Galaxy phone after learning that the suspect and his companions had gone out hunting for a buyer of the same lost mobile phone.

During the process, a violent altercation started between them and the suspect, who was already brandishing a weapon inflicted injuries on the deceased with a knife.

The deceased died on their way while he was being transported to the hospital for treatment.

According to the report, the deceased had previously filed an official complaint with the Assin Akropong Police Command after learning that the suspect and his friends were using the phone. However, the police officer on duty instructed the complainant, who is now deceased, to have the suspect arrested because there were not enough police officers on duty at the time to leave the station.

Esther Binney, a 9-year-old eyewitness and the deceased’s daughter, described what she saw at the crime site as she sobs, the girl described the experience as “awful.”

Madam Hannah Godiga, the deceased’s mother, pleaded with the police to conduct a thorough investigation into the incident and find the offenders so they can be prosecuted while sobbing hysterically.

In the meantime, the body has been kept at the morgue at St. Francis Xavier Hospital pending an investigation.

The District Police Commander, Chief Superintendent Cephas Arthur, the Assin Fosu Divisional Commander, Chief Superintendent Edith Gaanu, the Divisional Crime Officer, DSP Daniel Darko, and a team of police officers have visited the bereaved family to offer their condolences and reassurance that the circumstances surrounding their loved ones’ deaths will be investigated openly and professionally.

They urged the youth to avoid violence and to maintain their composure, saying that the police are always available to address any issues they may have.

Meanwhile, one of the suspects has been arrested and is in police custody assisting with investigations.
